(1)Don't be fooled. You may see the greasy hair, the double bass, and the leather jackets and think you're in for some kind of Sha-Na-Na nostalgia kick, but you ain't. Believe me. The Spectres take rock & roll and strip away all the extraneous junk: no choirs, no orchestras, no extended dance remixes. They boil down raw rockabilly, fuzz-bomb garage punk, and speed-addled surf n' drag into a butt-kickin' elixir of prime-evil, gutbucket rock & roll.
The Spectres started annoying neighbors with their unholy racket in early '97, and shortly after started making a name for themselves in any old dive that would have them. They've since managed to play countless shows all over the country with such like-minded bands as Demented Are Go, Hayride To Hell, Godless Wicked Creeps, Deadbolt, Twistin' Tarantulas, and Barnyard Ballers.
(A different band also called the Spectres were an early incarnation of what would later become the Status Quo, rendered immortal with their psychedelic hit "Pictures of Matchstick Men.")
(2)The Spectres were a groovy female-fronted band from the Wirral.
